For one of the most visited parks in Paris, Jardin du Luxembourg sometimes feels, during certain days under certain weather conditions, like you received a special invitation to enter this magical space and explore its gardens and promenades in all its tranquility... it felt very much like this last week when I went with my boys on a chilly October morning after the grey clouds finally broke.
Like a dream awake, I still find myself easily startled by the reality of where I am, my surroundings and moments like these...

making them utter what they would most like to keep to themselves.” - Julien Green
Beautiful even on a quiet day. And those urns with the cascading mums are beautiful.
ReplyDeleteAutumn is my favourite season. I love the colours captured here.
ReplyDeleteYour images all full of atmosphere and a sense of melancholia, love your words, too.
ReplyDeleteSomehow I feel as if these impressions are not so much different than what one can find in Vienna's parks this time of the year.
Cheers from Vienna,
Merisi
You captured the most wonderful autumn images! Love the boys walking off...
ReplyDeleteNice colors. Beautiful photos.
ReplyDeleteAll your lovely photos remind me of that old song, 'I Love Paris' ... in the springtime, in the winter, in the summer ... in the fall! Beautiful!
ReplyDeleteEvery time I visit your blog I feel that I just went to Paris! Beautiful pictures as always, and perfect caption!
ReplyDeleteI was thinking the same thing as I looked at the photos - where is everyone! Lucky you! I like the action shot of your son jumping and also the two boys strolling together. I like the pigeons and the bench. Well, all of them really - I always feel as though I'm there with you, Catherine.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing your photos of this spectacular and peaceful place. My favorite is the black and white of your sons walking together -- so sweet! We stayed a few blocks from this park on our recent trip to Paris, but we didn't find time to visit. We must come back to Paris :)
ReplyDeleteLuxembourg is my sons' favorite of favorites!... and your plan to visit is a perfect reason to return to Paris :)
DeleteI loved this garden when i visited Paris, nearly six years ago (!) it was february and everything was covered with snow... Now you make me want to come to Paris again!!
ReplyDeleteOh how wonderful you experienced Paris under the snow Barbara!... crossing my fingers I get a chance to this winter.
DeleteI have never been abroad but I love your pictures and they make me want to go there. Thanks for sharing them with us!http://nanahood.com/creepy-stuffed-animals
ReplyDeleteThank you all so much for your very kind comments :)
ReplyDeleteGorgeous as always! I feel like that park bench was in a movie I saw a couple months ago that was set in Paris. I would love to feel what it feels like to walk through these images.
ReplyDeleteBefore I read what you wrote I was thinking....how amazing to be so "alone" in this place! I don't think I ever saw it so deserted. I would be imagining the time when it was a private garden and tranquil, just like this, most all the time. The b/w of your boys arm in arm is the most magic of all these to me!
ReplyDeleteI think Paris is always a beautoful city no matter what the season

ReplyDeleteBeautiful! I love the light through the trees and those flowers and chairs all lined up.
ReplyDeleteOh Paris, you are so beautiful what-ever the season. I really need to do an Autumn visit having seen your photos.
ReplyDeleteThe timely elegance of your pictures is magic. And that sepia picture just set my imagination in motion.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much Daydreamer :) xo
