On the other side of the phone, my sister was telling me about another impending snow storm around Washington, DC and how she's grown weary of the perpetual chill, the kind she said remained in her bones throughout the day like a nasty itch. As much as I'd love to experience Paris under a magical blanket of snow, I very much understand her longing for warmer sunnier days too...
So for my sister and to you other warriors of winter who have simply had enough of the cold and ice, and are beginning to daydream of waking up to the sweet smell of Spring, these tulips and ray of sunlight are for you...

It's snowing here in Breckenridge, Catherine. (And was snowing when we left Denver to return to the mountains.) I'm thinking of buying some tulips of my own - yours have certainly brightened my day!
ReplyDeleteWe've been spared this winter ... until today. We have 12" and still coming. In Kentucky. I know that's not much to the folks in New England, but down here ... it's MAJOR. Still, I can't complain. We've gotten off easy ... so far. Still when I dig out, I'm going to get some tulips.
ReplyDeleteI bought bunches of tulips and distributed them around the house. Fog, snow and no sun is not helping to lift anybody`s spirit. Your wonderful pictures truly add some sunshine to the day.
ReplyDeletePs.Berlin really is worth a visit!
Just stunning!
ReplyDeleteThe sun is shining today and the birds are singing.... today I can really see the promise of spring.

Such beautiful warm light! Is THAT your balcony in the background? Be still my heart :)
ReplyDeleteAw thank you Kathy... there are a few small balconies in my apartment... they're like small shelves for plants and flowers, not the kind I can walk on, but I do love them :)
DeleteYeah, that's what most of us have currently at home - the first harbingers of spring in the form of tulips... ;-)
ReplyDeleteGreat photographs!
Uwe.
What a lovely series.. I especially love the close up of the stems in the vase!
ReplyDeleteWith apologies to your sister, Catherine, she has not really seen winter unless she has been in and around New England this winter. However as we also lived nearly 12 years on the VA eastern shore where even 5 inches is considered a "major" snow event with schools and businesses closed, I can appreciate how she and others in Southern states feel. We like winter, but have had too much, too soon in NH.
ReplyDeleteSo true Beatrice,... must be our tropical heritage that makes us react so acutely to cold temperatures, I don't think we'd survive New England! ;) Stay safe + warm!
DeleteOh, such lovely light! The black and white photo of the tulips is surprisingly so effective. I wouldn't think to do that with the beautiful purple, but it's stunning!
ReplyDeleteThank you Sharon! I almost hesitated processing them that way,... happy I didn't :)
DeleteYour light is magical!
ReplyDeleteOh how pretty flowers!!! And that light! <3
ReplyDeleteThese pictures are beautiful! I bought tulips this morning too... I need spring!!
ReplyDeleteThat´s sweet, and beautiful!
ReplyDeleteSo beautiful!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous photography and a little bit of Spring to delight the heart ~
ReplyDeleteHappy Week to you,
artmusedog and carol
beautiful photos!
ReplyDeleteI just spent 5 days in Oregon and am now back in ridiculously snowy Boston, SO ready for spring, but it may be a while...
ReplyDeleteGorgeous! The color of the tulips is so rich. Spring is coming...!!!!
ReplyDeleteJust beautiful!
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely gorgeous! Those are such happy shots!
ReplyDeletebetter than spring may be only the promise of spring
ReplyDeleteThank you all so much for your very kind comments :) Hoping you stay safe + warm in your snow covered regions - xo
ReplyDeleteDear Catherine, the pictures from the US are incredible and even though they may look fascinating, I can only imagine how difficult it is to lead a normal life under a heavy blanket of snow. Your tulips are a good omen, I am sure: they announce sunnier and warmer days (and you know how I LOVE those ;-)). Take care, and stay warm!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful tulips!
ReplyDeleteWe should be knee deep in snow in the yard. But our crazy Utah weather has brought spring early. Flowers are poking out of the ground we even have buds on ours trees. If we get "real" winter weather here it will surely kill everything ( sad face) Love your stunning photos reminding us that spring is near. Thank you for sharing at the Thursday Favorite Things Blog Hop. xo
ReplyDeleteBeautifully captured moments of light and promise of spring!
ReplyDeleteI remember all too well the dashed hopes of spring around Washington's birthday in DC, suddenly winter and more snow than one would feel possible so far down south.
To spring,
Merisi
