During the cold winter months, my mind naturally wanders toward the sea...
Last October, my family spent a few days in Le Touquet, the seaside resort town about three hours north of Paris. It is rich in gastronomy and historical architecture, lined with beautiful villas and protected buildings. But what I found most appealing is its marvelous trifecta of shimmering blue water sandwiched between an endless stretch of soft sand and watercolor washed sky.

Your tranquil beach scenes did make me pause, Catherine. Even in cool weather, people still relax on the beach in the fall sunshine. Your B&W's have a 40's feel.
ReplyDeleteI often find myself remembering seaside visits and warmer days in winter. Your beach is tranquil, beautiful and it calls my name. Shall I add it to my list of places I want to visit in France?
ReplyDeleteYes, Dotti! You won't be disappointed...
DeleteOne day I would like to live by the sea and look at the ever changing colours of the ocean . I was brought up between the North Sea and the Baltic and I miss the crisp air, the sea gulls and most of all the light .
ReplyDeleteBeautiful pictures of a very lovely sea resort....makes me feel homesick.
Thank you Karen... you described the atmosphere beautifully.
DeleteNice serie of beach shots. I like them.
ReplyDeleteI love going to the beach in winter. So wild and windswept and reminds me that whatever goes on in life those waves will keep on crashing on the shores. What amazes me about your beach is all those tables and chairs set up on the beach! Very civilised! I love your first image. Timeless. Have a wonderful week Catherine.
ReplyDeleteThe sea is a wonderful teacher, so many metaphors and lessons. Thank you Jill... xo
Deletesuch beautiful photos...i love them all!
ReplyDeleteLove the empty beaches.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photography...love the tranquil mood of these...quiet and peaceful.
ReplyDeleteVery nice to look at these seaside scenes in these winter months. I was struck by how empty the beach looked, but perhaps the time of year was the reason and it may be more populated in warmer summer months.
ReplyDeleteIt was late October when we visited and had much of the beach to ourselves, along with only a few others. It was splendid :)
DeleteWhat a pretty town!
ReplyDeleteThat first image is amazing, you captured the vastness of the space

Looks like the perfect place to spend the day. I LOVE all those sea shells. Really beautiful seascapes.
ReplyDeletePlease adopt me. :) I just love all of your outings and your images. I always feel a sense of serenity viewing them.
ReplyDeleteReally nice shots! I really like the placement of the people in the upper right corner, walking on the beach.
ReplyDeleteThank you all so much for your very kind comments! :)
ReplyDeleteWhat gorgeous photos, I think I prefer the sea in the winter rather than the summer. I feel more at peace. Thanks for sharing at the Thursday Favorite Things Blog Hop.
